Abstract for Research Paper
Daily human activities such as burning fossil fuels are arguably the greatest force behind climate change and global warming. As a result, the Earth reached irreversible damage. With global temperatures rising, there is a growing concern that tropical diseases such as malaria and dengue fever will spread to cooler areas around the world. Warmer climates have a large mosquito population, which contributes to the infection rate. Research done by the World Health Organization and Stanford University have shown that even a few degrees of increase in the global temperature can be fatal. However, there are other theories arguing that other factors such as drug resistance, mosquito control programs, health facilities, and living standards can influence the increase in tropical diseases. Using various climatic variables and models, as well as data gathered in the field, there appears to be a positive correlation between increases in global temperatures and transmittance of tropical diseases. Therefore, the evidence supports the notion that climate change will increase the abundance of mosquitoes in cooler climates and as a result increase infectivity. In the event that this infectivity spreads worldwide, it will be detrimental to populations around the world and be the next global pandemic.

Abstract for outline:
Before beginning the writing process, our group met up to discuss the topic we wanted to write about and outline how we wanted to go about writing the paper. The topic we ended up picking at the time was how global warming was making tropical diseases like malaria and dengue fever travel north. From there we outlined our paper generally as well as outlining our abstract based upon an example provided in class. Furthermore, we included our evidence for our topic in this document so that all group members had access to the files that were going to potentially be used in the paper.
